This is our first point of reference when curating our events,
helping us discover and platform artists solely based on their work and ideas rather than their reach.

However, to provide more focused, ongoing support, we've created a programme for artists, facilitators, and practitioners to help them develop their practice while becoming more deeply connected to the core of Underpractice’s project.
This includes a significantly discounted rate on studio hire, priority access to the studio, residencies, promotion & documentation, opportunities to take part in in-house or externally curated events, direct access to community networking, and participation in open assemblies.

RE2IDENCY
We will be running a funded residency programme called ‘RE2IDENCY’,
aimed at live art performers and visual artists who identify as Queer, Neurodivergent and/or Immigrants.
Each season, this programme will accommodate 2 local artists + 2 international artists*.
It will be split into 2 strands, each occurring at different times and for a duration of 2 months.
In each strand, 2 artists (local + international) are offered studio space to work on an independent piece,
as well as a small budget for expenses related to the production of the ‘finished’ work.
This residency has been strategically designed to encourage collaboration and conversation
while also preserving the integrity of each resident’s individual work:
by providing opportunities for connections to organically emerge (or not), not only between the two concurrent residencies in each strand
but also amongst all four residents in the same season.
The reason for this is to encourage the development of creative practice within a community framework,
as well as the engagement with, contribution to, and shaping of contemporary social and cultural discourse, in alignment with underpractice’s values.
The work will be solo, with no pressure or expectation to create interactions with other residents’ work.
Equally, there will be no rule against residents participating in each other’s pieces.
At the end of each strand, there will be a showcase of both residents’ work.
*International artists will be given a fee to cover accommodation
